Privacy Policy

WhereInSconsin is a geography quiz game. It has no ads, no third-party trackers, and no analytics SDKs, and we never sell or share your data. This page describes the little data the app does handle.

Playing without an account

You can use the entire game without creating an account. In that case everything — your scores, streaks, and review progress — is stored only on your device and never sent anywhere.

If you create an account

Accounts are optional and exist to power leaderboards and cross-device progress backup. If you sign up, our server stores:

Email address and password — for signing in. Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes.
Username and (optional) home county — shown on leaderboards.
Gameplay totals — points, questions answered, and streak lengths, used to rank leaderboards.
Progress backup — a copy of your local game progress, so a new phone can restore it. It contains gameplay data only.

Server logs

Like nearly every online service, our servers briefly process IP addresses to serve requests and rate-limit abuse (for example, repeated failed logins). We run on Cloudflare infrastructure in the United States.

What we don't do

No advertising and no ad identifiers.
No selling, renting, or sharing personal data with third parties.
No tracking across other apps or websites.
No collection of location data — the map pins you drop are quiz answers, not your location. The app never asks for device location permissions.

Deleting your data

Signing out removes your session from your device. To delete your account and everything associated with it, email support@whereinsconsin.com from the account's email address and we'll remove it.

Children

The app is appropriate for all ages. Accounts simply require an email address; we knowingly collect nothing else from anyone, child or adult.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
